Start Getting Organized

In this day and age women wear many hats and as a result things can get...well a little disorganized.

In my own life I have found that a few simple additions to the way I run things can help me to keep all of my hats organized and as a result my life too.

Here's my list in a nutshell.

1. Take care of myself. Eating breakfast, exercising and yes taking vitamins helps to keep common colds at bay, energy flowing and an alert mind to deal with the demands of a very active toddler.

2. Learn to say no. I don't take on too much. Knowing when to say no is key. I'm not wonder woman. Prioritize what is important in your own situation and take it from there. Don't apologize for not being able to do it all.

3. Don't go it alone. Get the family involved. Teach your children to help out. Chores are a wonderful thing. They can help with laundry, dishes, general cleaning, and the list goes on.

4. Reduce the clutter. Step by step going through the house and decluttering areas. Start with a drawer, move to the whole room. Little by little keep only what you use (and what you will sorely miss).

5. Don't put it down, put it away. If you (or a family member) takes it out make sure to put it away when you're done.

6. Meal Planning. Preparing meals takes up a huge amount of time. Meal Planning, the art of compiling recipes, making a master shopping list, and knowing in advance what is for dinner is the key to simplifying this overwhelming duty.

7. List making. The secret, not so secret tool of the most organized. Lists keep us on track and help us to organize our days and to-do's.

If you're looking to organize yourself tweek these suggestions to fit your own life. Start with organizing yourself and the rest will follow.
